Our mission: to inspire today’s youth and bring the community together to enhance everybody’s wellbeing.
SEND Support at CommUNITY Little Hulton
At CommUNITY Little Hulton, we believe every child and young person deserves to feel included, supported and able to take part in their community close to home.
Based at Peel Park Pavilion in the heart of Little Hulton, we work alongside local families, schools, organisations and community partners to provide welcoming activities and support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We understand that navigating support and activities can sometimes feel overwhelming for families. Our aim is to create safe, inclusive spaces where children and young people can build confidence, develop friendships, try new experiences and most importantly enjoy themselves without judgement.
As a charity run by local people for local people, community and wellbeing sit at the heart of everything we do.
What We Offer
We provide a range of inclusive activities, sessions and opportunities for children and young people across Little Hulton and Salford.
Our activities may include:
SEND-friendly youth sessions
Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programmes
Saturday IS Funday sessions
Forest school and outdoor activities
Creative and wellbeing sessions
Community cooking activities
Family support and signposting
Inclusive community events and trips
Some sessions are specifically designed for children and young people with SEND, while others are inclusive mainstream activities with additional support available where appropriate.
We always encourage families to speak with us beforehand if they would like to discuss individual needs or ask questions about accessibility and support.
Saturday IS Funday
Our Saturday IS Funday sessions provide children and young people with SEND the opportunity to access fun, structured and supportive activities within a safe community environment.
The sessions are designed to support:
confidence building,
social interaction,
creativity,
physical activity,
independence,
and emotional wellbeing.
We know that every young person is different, so we aim to create sessions that feel welcoming, flexible and supportive for all abilities.
The sessions are aimed at children and young people who:
are aged 5–17 years old,
live in Salford,
have a Special Educational Need or Disability,
and may benefit from additional support to access activities.
A Supportive and Inclusive Approach
At CommUNITY Little Hulton, we recognise that every child and family’s experience is different.
We aim to work closely with parents and carers to understand individual needs and make reasonable adjustments wherever possible to help children and young people feel comfortable, supported and included.
Depending on the activity, support available may include:
accessible facilities,
quiet or calmer spaces,
communication support,
support around routines and transitions,
and trained staff and volunteers.
If you are unsure whether a session is suitable, please get in touch. We are always happy to have an informal conversation and discuss how we can best support your child.
Working With Families and Partners
We believe strong communities are built through partnership and support.
Alongside delivering activities, we also work with local schools, organisations and community partners to help connect families with additional support, advice and opportunities across Salford.
We know parents and carers are the experts when it comes to their children, and we value working together to create positive experiences for every young person who accesses our sessions.
